January 10 – Snow cat

This guy likes to go on the family walk. Mom, kids, dogs on leads and behind them all, follows cat.
He was having a bit of fun hiding behind the rock then attacking one of the dogs.

You know, to keep those cars on their own sides of the street.
The city of Fort Collins plowed it like this, then left. We aren’t on the regular plow route, in fact, this is the first time I’ve ever seen the street plowed.

Brilliant, clear day with the snow making machines adding to the atmosphere.

Taken with the Googlephone, so quality is not great. Also, my face really was that red. (Ouch!)
The day started out beautifully at Eldora Mountain. By 1pm, we had been through a complete whiteout and the sun was out again. Then the wind kicked up. I’m wearing a bomber hat of real rabbit fur that I gave Wade several years ago. After the dog chewed off the left flap (and part of the brim), he wouldn’t wear it anymore. It is the warmest hat we own, and that counts for plenty with me. The brim is coated with snow & ice, as was the scarf I had around my face. You can see the wind kicking up snow on the bunny hill behind me. After we left, I almost drove into a lake… more whiteout conditions on the road. (Flashbacks of sandstorms on the I-10!)

First skiing of the season at Eldora Ski resort.

We put 28 miles a day driving Cody to school. This week we’ve also been driving Cole as it’s been too cold to bike.

Working from home has its perks! The neighbors decided that since Wade was usually home, he could use their Deere and shovel everyone’s driveway before they got home in the evening. Well, it finally snowed. Note the green van that needs selling in the background. I’ll let it go cheap…anyone? anyone?
(FYI- Why yes, you are correct that Wade has owned that jacket since 1994.)

The snow was so wet and heavy, we had to shovel off the deck to keep it from possible collapse. Almost 20 inches between Tuesday night and Thursday.

School was canceled today as it snowed and snowed and snowed.
