November 18 – Math Wall

A little peace in a 5th grade classroom.

Of course, there was better access at the other end of the building.

This guy was hanging out in a fountain at a hidden gem of a school inĀ California (nicknamed the Secret Garden).

Just one of the many games at the school’s Fall Festival.

We’ve been to both of the home games for CSU this season and I have dozens of pictures, mostly of the band. I love how their green uniforms look against the fake turf and the precision and linear-ness of the marching.
Although I took several that look like a “Where’s Waldo?” image, this one of the horns “posing”‘ during a drum cadence seemed so out of place.

The local mall is having a student art show. Six or seven schools from Fort Collins are participating.
Each year in 10th grade, IB students spend 6 months on a personal growth project. We went up to school to check them out.
Projects ranged from planning a fundraising run to building an electric guitar with everything in between.
writing a science fiction novel
learning how to decorate a cake
rebuilding a Gran Torino
composing a piece of music
making a laser harp
pottery
building a propane generator
training a dog
training a horse
becoming an equestrian show rider
balancing mobiles
One student built a Suessian playhouse to be auctioned for charity that garnered the local newspaper’s attention.
This was my favorite. I get the impression from the title that this student learned a lot about himself.
That’s right, it’s a fence.
I was waiting for the boys to finish track and was struck by the light and the rough texture of the schoolyard fence. I didn’t futz with the image in anything, except cropping out the office in the distance.
